A calm and understanding space for you to begin your journey of self discovery

I am often asked what inspired you to become a counsellor?

My answer is I have an interest in people.

I see myself as someone who can build up a rapport easily which helps people feel comfortable to open up to me which has been my career for the last 38 years supporting my customers in retail banking where they have shared major life events with me including bereavements and relationship breakdowns where I have listened and supported with empathy and understanding.

Whilst working in banking I qualified as a Therapeutic Counsellor and have now over 7 years experience of face to face, online and telephone counselling working with a local charity providing a Therapeutic Counselling Service, where I have had the privilege to work with a wide range of clients with various counselling needs who have felt at ease with me to share their life experiences including anxiety, depression, bereavement, PTSD, co-dependency, ADHD, dissociative identity disorder and hearing voices.

More importantly I work with the person and their experience which allows me to step into their world and walk beside them on their own unique journey. I am now in private practice whilst still working with a local charity, leaving banking behind which gave me the strong foundation to do what I truly love helping and supporting others to be seen and heard to improve their emotional well being to enable them to move forward.

You may be thinking what can I offer you as your counsellor ?

Firstly I thank you for taking this first step. I know it can be hard to ask for support when everyone around you thinks everything is fine when that is so far from your reality. I can offer you a warm welcome a calm and understanding confidential space where you can begin to feel and express your emotions freely and say it how it really is for you.

I truly believe you know the most about you, but it could be that you have lost who that person is. With encouragement and your own curiosity my hope is you will gain a better understanding of yourself giving you more meaning in your life with the choice to make your own changes.

I am a fully qualified experienced, integrative counsellor, my core therapeutic approach is person centred which means I tailor the therapy to your individual needs, working at your own pace with what you choose to bring to your sessions. I work with all my clients with empathy and without judgement putting you at the centre of our work together where you will be seen and heard.

Speak in confidence

Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.

A problem shared...

Many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.

Make better, healthier new choices

Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.

What issues can counselling help with?

As an integrative counsellor who has supported clients with a variety of concerns, here are some of the more common difficulties that can be addressed through counselling:

Anxiety and stress management

Depression and low mood

Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Bereavement and loss

Relationship difficulties

Self-esteem and confidence issues

Childhood abuse and neglect

Managing chronic illness or health conditions

Life transitions and adjustment challenges

ADHD diagnosis and support

These areas represent just a few of the ways counselling can provide support and healing. If you'd like more information or wish to explore a specific concern, feel free to get in touch.
